eNett International, a leading provider of dedicated B2B payment solutions, today announced it has reached its fundraising target, and will send nine of its employees to join Mellon Educate’s Building Blitz in South Africa as part of its Replay the eNett Way initiative.
With poor infrastructure being one of the biggest barriers to education in South Africa, eNett has partnered with African development charity Mellon Educate, to renovate three schools in the disadvantaged township of Khayelitsha, Cape Town. eNett’s nine employees will be part of a team of 282 volunteers from across the world taking part in the project which aims to build 14 new classrooms, two playgrounds and two new kitchens in one week. Throughout the year, eNett’s global offices have been taking part in fundraising activities to support the charity.
Anthony Hynes, MD and CEO of eNett International, said: “I’m immensely proud of my team for coming together to raise money for a fantastic venture. A key tenant of Repay the eNett Way is taking a hands-on approach. The Building Blitz fits perfectly with that, as members of the eNett team will get first-hand experience of the townships, as well as using their own hands to build the schools. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for our staff to not only benefit the 2,700 pupils currently at the school but also many future generations too. I look forward to hearing all about their experiences when they return.”
South Africa was chosen as eNett’s next beneficiary of its annual CSR programme ‘Repay the eNett Way’, which looks to improve the education and career opportunities for underprivileged communities in high tourism growth countries. This follows eNett’s work last year in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, which saw eight employees travel the country to undertake renovations in the community. The fundraising also helped support the education of two young adults who wanted to pursue careers in travel.
