November 20, 2019
Singapore, 20 November 2019: eNett International, a leading provider of integrated B2B payment solutions for the travel industry, is celebrating hitting its 2019 fundraising target. Internally, members of the eNett team raised USD15,000 which has been matched dollar for dollar by the company, bringing the final figure to USD30 000.
The funds raised as part of eNett’s CSR programme ‘Repay the eNett way’ will be donated to two charities who support homelessness causes - Youth Projects in Melbourne and Shelter from the Storm in London. These organisations carry out vital work to help those who, through circumstances beyond their control, find themselves without a home.
Each year ‘Repay the eNett Way’ aims to shine a light on and tackle the challenges faced by underprivileged communities in high tourism growth areas. Homelessness is one of the major issues facing these communities impacting thousands of people in large cities around the world. In London, 3,103 people were ‘sleeping rough’ between July and September 2018, and 1,618 people in Melbourne over the same period.
eNett team members have carried out a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year:
Some of the funds have already been put to good use, supplying Shelter from the Storm with a brand new commercial coffee machine to help generate income, while also providing those at the shelter with hot drinks as the weather gets colder. Volunteers from eNett have also hosted cooking and resumé writing classes.
Repay the eNett Way is about more than just handing over a donation to charities. Another key component of the programme is that each year, eNett sends a group of volunteers over to the charity’s location to help make a hands-on difference. This year’s activities will continue this month when selected eNett employees from the London office travel to Melbourne to volunteer with Youth Projects. They will support the charity by painting and renovating their facilities for youth employment assistance and running cooking classes and day excursions with those experiencing homelessness.
At the same time, selected eNett employees from the Melbourne office, will head to London to work at Shelter from the Storm. Volunteers will cook for those staying at the shelter and support guests and staff during overnight shifts.
eNett Managing Director and CEO, Anthony Hynes, said: “Homelessness is an important issue, and we must all do our bit in the fight against it. Since its launch in 2016, our Repay the eNett Way Programme has helped communities in underprivileged regions around the world and this year we wanted to support people struggling closer to home. It’s great to see that the team has hit the fundraising target. The funds our team has raised will support these charities in their incredibly valuable and much-needed work, supporting the most vulnerable members of society.”
