The European Union General Data Protection Regulation (aka GDPR) came into effect on 25 May this year. In a nutshell, the regulation contains new data protection requirements of EU residents’ personal data. Many commentators in the technology space see these changes as the new international standard for privacy.
eNett believes personal data, privacy and security are of the utmost importance for all. In line with this, we have made changes globally. These changes are to the benefit of all our clients and employees alike, ensuring that everyone gains the advantages of these developments.
To underline the importance of this initiative we have developed the following vision statement:
It is extremely important to us to protect the privacy and confidentiality of eNett’s data. We adhere to the strictest regulations and go to great lengths to ensure the privacy and security of our customers’ and employees’ data isn’t compromised in any way.
How eNett Prepared for GDPR
As a data controller and processor of personal data the business embarked on creation of new policies, updates to existing terms and conditions and upgrades to standard operating procedures. These changes were communicated to our customers ahead of the regulation coming into effect. We have also reviewed processes with our suppliers and partners to ensure privacy and security is maintained throughout our third-party network.
The changes are too important to live in policies and documents alone however so the business has also embarked upon an internal training and communication program for our employees. This program draws more focus to the wide-ranging processes required across collection, storage and use of personal data.
